ABOUT
Contextualizing Africa is a curatorial research platform exploring contemporary African architecture through the many contexts that shape it, from history and culture to climate, politics, people, place, and beyond.
It began as an exhibition in 2023 and has since continued through exhibitions, research, conversations, travel, and other forms of documentation.

EXPLORE FELLOWSHIP
In 2026, Contextualizing Africa expanded through Corgan’s Explore Fellowship with research in Nairobi, Kenya; Kigali, Rwanda; and Kampala, Uganda. The research examined school design across East Africa, with particular attention to how schools respond to their environments, support learning, and create spaces for students and their communities.
